Procreation

Ah yes, the creation of the undead. Essentia might gift souls the ability to create but with limitations and repercussions. See, it was never meant to be a place to continue life but only to finish life, yet, the honorable creator of this world decided that perhaps it would be worth giving into the desire of others.

Overview

  • Lineage knows no bounds. Couples of all types and as many or as little parents as possible can create new life but there may only be up to three primary parents when it comes to creating foundation statistics of the child.

  • Successful procreation and bonus foundation statistics for children are determined by dice.

  • Everything else is entirely up to the player(s) involved. Aging (if you want to do it slow, fast, or not at all and join as an adult), appearance, personality, type of pregnancy (traditional, ritual, random appearance of full grown child, etc) is all at the discretion of the writer(s).

Writing Foals/Yearlings/Non Adults

If you choose to actually age a child, instead of joining them as an adult, you will need to set their size class appropriately to their size at the time of joining. As you age them, at your own preference, you can request a size class update in the Maintenance and Help board since that particular stat cannot be updated by members.

Foundation Statistics

Children of the afterlife have a maximum of 30 foundation stat points across the board. However, they are not 100% determined by the player but instead based mostly off of the parent(s) involved in procreation.

  • Please note that size class is not determined by the system but by you, however it should be relevant to the parent(s) involved! If, for example, there are three parents under small, large, and extra large the child is most likely going to be medium or large.

One Primary Parent

If only one primary parent is applicable the child’s foundation stats will be within one less, exact same, or one more per foundation stat. For example if the primary parents ST stat is 7 then the child can have ST as 6, 7, or 8 but will be determined by the system at random.

Multiple Primary Parents

In the instance of two or three primary parents the child’s foundation stats will be the average of each foundation stat from the parents but cannot be greater than 30 (if it is points will be deducted at player discretion to equal no more than 30).

Dice

Only a few dice will be rolled for both parent and child should the initial dice for determining success is determined successful. If it is unsuccesful only one more roll will be made to determine the amount of time that must pass before another attempt can be made.

Determine Success

A one sided 20 faced die will be rolled to determine procreation success. Even numbers dictate a successful procreation. Odd numbers dictate an unsuccessful procreation attempt.

Should the procreation attempt be determined successful a one sided 10 faced die will be rolled to determine the number of soul shards lost by the parent(s) involved. The total outcome can be split between parent(s) involved at player discretion. If players cannot come to an agreement on an amount the amount will be split equally (if even number) or as equal as possible (if odd number) by splitting in half and the odd extra number will go to the parent rolling the dice.

Should the outcome be unsuccessful you will roll a one sided 3 faced die to determine the amount of months you must wait before trying again. Should the roll be a 0 you can try again immediately.

Base Stat Outcome and Possible Bonus Points

Since children of the afterlife have a max of 30 points across the board for foundation stats their total stat points (determined by the information in “Foundation Stats” above) will be deducted from 30. If they have a remainder of points available for use then that number will be rolled via a one sided dice with the leftover remainder number as faces (1d#LEFTOVER#). That roll outcome is the amount of extra points that can be added to outcome numbers as seen fit. They may or may not have the luck of getting all the leftover points but they will get some!
