Eniel was always part of a herd growing up, whether it be his initial family herd or the ones he moved onto as an adult, the unicorn could not bear to be alone. he was always grouchy, though, preferring the image of being surrounded by people rather than interacting with said people. it took an accident for him to have finally spoken to the love of his life: Mellow.

Eniel had known of Mellow just a little prior to the incident, as they were part of the same herd. they were young colts at the time, just about to grow into adults. he'd never spoken to the fellow colt before, but felt some odd, funny feelings. fuzzy feelings, his heart would race when standing near him, and the stupid colt had no understanding of that yet. but he was too afraid to talk to the other, and so never pursued those feelings

it was only until one spring, Eniel had gotten caught in the branches of a flowering tree that he'd finally get the chance to speak to the other, though not in the way he had hoped. Mellow was nearby to see Eniel's horn caught in the branches (mostly because the racket Eniel made trying to shake off was hard to have not gone noticed) and, like a knight in shining armor, came to the rescue. only for the fool to get caught in the very same branches. the pair bickered from then on, but found companionship in one another once finally freed. over the coming years, they became more than friends and soon enough were bound to the hip.

that was only when conflict began to rise. the honeymoon phase was over, and now the cracks in their foundation began to show.

Eniel wanted children; Mellow did not. Eniel wanted to move herds; Mellow did not.
they'd bicker over the smallest of things. while Eniel had softened his edge once meeting Mellow, bitchy habits die hard. it was only until they finally had a foal that things brightened up for the pair, but that tranquility wouldn't last for long. Eniel hadn't paid close enough attention to their foal one evening, and in the blink of an eye, the foal had been lost to the clutches of a predator. devastated, it would be the first of many blows to the unicorn. after falling into a deep depression for months, Eniel and Mellow tried to conceive again, but nothing was working and eventually Eniel grew desperate. eventually, he cheated on Mellow with another unicorn, courting one that looked similar enough to Mellow that it wouldn't haunt Eniel for the rest of his life. it's not cheating if it's with someone that looks like Mellow, right? besides, then there'll be no suspicions as to who helped conceive the child.
that backfired, and the pair argued and fought. Mellow, enraged, eventually took it out on the infant. Eniel returned to the mauled remains of the child he risked it all to have, and knew instantly by seeing the stain in Mellow's pale coat who the culprit was. they fought from then on, Eniel blaming him for "making him take some drastic actions, that he wouldn't have done had Mellow just given him what he wanted" as well as the rage of Mellow murdering their children and never caring for any of them even when the first was his. and Mellow for Eniel's infidelity.

this all ended as it always does amongst wild horses: a fight. a bloody, desperate fight between the unicorns broke out — their rage mixed with a possessive, toxic love and a deep-seated hatred for the other.
Eniel fell first. Mellow struck him straight in the heart, his anger getting the best of him as he pinned Eniel down and stabbed him with his horn. Eniel, in a primal panic from the pain, thrashed about and his horn had buried itself somewhere too: Mellow's skull. they died together, just as they tried so hard to live together.
THE LORE
"There was a time before time. There was no beginning. No end. There just...was. There have been countless tales of how life began. Maybe all are true, or none. There isn't a soul alive who can confirm what has created us, and yet the religion and worship of an all mighty being has sprouted, its flock casting out the different and the weird. They call them witches. Cursed whores of Hell who shall rot in the ground until the pit swallows them again. But don't fret, younglings. For the Almighty had gifted angels to walk among the masses. Beings born of the lowly, who mature into His light.

They enter the world with no color adorning them, a blank slate for Almighty to mold and paint. They must prove their worth, their loyalty. It could take years of dedication, of prayer, to be bestowed the gift of light. But, oh what a gift. Their skin becomes aglow with gold, locks as pure as alabaster halo their polls, and the color of a blue Heaven floods their eyes. What once were stubby, featherless tendrils behind their ears lengthen into majestic wings that carry them as they call to the Almighty.

Their lineage is protected and preserved. Only the Golden can mate with the Golden. And only through Him can they bear life. There has never been a child of the Almighty who has not grown into the light. That is, until the Cursed. The Forgotten."
