Actions & Reactions
AKA – Fuck Around & Find Out

On ̷ᴇQᴜᴜꜱ our consequence consent level is categorized as Non-Consent. This means that we favor in character consequences and remaining true to a character's nature. Here your consent to certain interactions between your character and others does not matter. We encourage writers to create situations that are realistic.

Characters that are constantly pushing boundaries, overstepping their welcome, or things of that sort are likely to reap the consequences of such should they be doing these things to the wrong individual. It is also very likely that innocent characters will be caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time and those consequences, though probably unfair, are still a possibility.

Suggest, Confront, Do

SCD has been built specifically for the Non-Consent writing level when it comes to confrontations with moderate to severe actions in mind. This system will allow characters to advance in action, without limits, and without individual permissions, up to fatal confrontations. This system leaves room for de-escalation with two warnings before an action can occur. And is only to be used when your character is ready to do something more serious in regards to physical harm.

This system can be the end result of PE and/or the initation of an altercation. You do not have to use this system if you have already prediscussed things with the other player(s) involved. This system is a courtesy for situations not planned.

  1. Suggest - Post 1 (First Warning) – Mention your character's intention(s) within the post dialogue or verbally.

  2. Confront - Post 2 (Second Warning) – Character will physically and/or verbally express an advancement towards action.

  3. Do - Post 3 (Third Warning) – Character will take action with you using the appropriate tabletop system(s).

SCD does not have to be defined in OOC notes but you are welcome to clarify such if you wish.

System Abuse

To avoid the loophole of a forever antagonizing character who never gets their dues, we have implemented a measure to avoid system abuse.

If the opposing character has already "stepped away" from SCD initated by another individual character two times, that means on the third confrontational thread with the opposing character the individual who previously initiated SCD can proceed with action without using SCD.

Encounter w/ De-escalation Accepted

Thread 1 – John is minding his own business when Jane approaches him making unruly demands. John, clearly irritated, informs Jane she needs to leave (suggest p1). Jane refuses, now upset her demands will not be met, she makes threats against his family. John does not take kindly to these threats, he steps forward to get in Janes face and yells profanities before telling her to leave, and this time he is not saying it lightly (confront p2). Jane finally realizes she has pushed the wrong man and decides to leave but not before she mumbles some very rude things under her breath (removes self from situation).

Notes – John gave Jane two warnings, the second of which she finally chose to remove herself from the escalating situation.

Second Encounter w/ De-escalation Accepted

Thread 2 – John waits at the blacksmiths door while his new weaponry is being forged. Jane, while strolling the city, spots John. She decides to confront him again, why? No one knows. John, clearly embarassed that this woman is degrading him in front of strangers, tells her she needs to be quiet (suggest p1). Jane does not take that well. She grows louder and makes false accusations about him being a theif. John, as last time, steps forward except this go around he is cold as stone and firm but quiet while telling her that if she does not take her crazy somewhere else he will do it for her (confront p2). Jane, understanding the threat but enjoying the tarnish of his reputation, smirks before turning around to head down the road elsewhere (removes self from situation).

Notes – Jane has decided to confront John again. John is even more frustrated after the first time this happened. This round he gives her two warnings again and she leaves once more. Proving antagonistic nature and purposeful confrontation just to flee when things get heated.

Third Encounter w/ De-escalation Voided

Thread 3 – Jane has made it her mission to continue pestering John but finally we know why, her brother absolutely hates the man and wishes to see him flounder. She appears out of nowhere while John rests against a tree watching the waterall. With no one around she begins to hound him immediately. John is tired of this game and decides he is done playing nice. As a man of wizardry he decides to teach her a lesson. Without saying a word he begins to use dark magic that forces itself through her nostrils (dice roll says crit success magic) and partially down her throat causing a blockage of air. As she struggles to breath John tells her that their next encounter will not be as kind as this one. While he walks away the effects of his magic wear off.

Notes – Once again Jane has put herself in front of John while maintaining the same antagonism as before. This time John reacted immediately, as the SCD system is now void, choosing to use magic to strangle her. By his more neutral nature he chooses not to engage beyond minor harm but he could have if he wanted to.
